GSS has not kept pace with customers’ expectations, with no review of payments or standards since 2008. There are also inconsistencies across England and Wales.
We want to see minimum GSS payments increased with consistent standards across England and Wales.
In early 2023, we started our research by asking customers what they thought about GSS.
From August to October 2023, we invited water companies and other involved parties to share their opinions or comments on GSS. View our call for evidence and the responses that we received.
In addition to collecting feedback, we will be setting up an industry working group to help us consider the responses and develop a set of recommendations for changes to the statutory standards. We intend to consult with the wider industry on our recommendations late summer 2024.
