Water companies challenged to show how they are helping customers
WATER companies serving the West of England will be challenged to show how well they are supporting customers who need financial and other assistance when the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) meets in Plymouth this Thursday (March 17).
Supporting vulnerable customers will be high on the agenda when the consumer watchdog’s Western Committee meets with water company representatives at Plymouth Guildhall at 2pm.
South West Water, Wessex Water, Bristol Water and Bournemouth Water will be asked to highlight what schemes they have in place to assist customers in vulnerable circumstances and how effective they have been at raising awareness of this support.
David Heath CBE, Western Chair for the Consumer Council for Water, said: “Water companies now offer more support and assistance than ever before for customers with a wide range of needs – but awareness of these schemes remains too low.”
“We want to hear how water companies intend to make sure their assistance reaches those who need it most.”
Members of the public are very welcome to attend the meeting and put any questions or concerns they might have to water company representatives and CCWater’s regional committee.
