Sandbags Outside House On Flooded Road

We are calling for water companies in England and Wales to continue to pick up the pace in tackling the impact of climate change on water supplies, following the publication of our annual Water, Water, Everywhere? report.

The report explores the resilience of water supplies in England in Wales by taking a close look at company performance in five key areas: leakage, sewer flooding, drinking water quality, supply interruptions and water consumption.

Key findings of the report include:

  • Up to 14% more properties were flooded with sewage in 2019-20 compared to the previous year.
  • People’s consumption of water reduced for the first time in 5 years but is still 2% higher than 2014-15.
  • Leakage falls by 7% to its lowest level in a decade.
  • Customers were cut off from their water supply for an average of 11 minutes 45 seconds.
